Community meeting to tackle crime

ALBANY, GA (WALB) – People who live in south Albany took their concerns about crime and other problems right to the leaders who can do something about them Tuesday night.

The city manager, the sheriff, and representatives from the Albany Police Department talked to folks at a community meeting tonight at the Henderson Gym.

Organizer Willie Ross says it makes a difference when people hear directly from city leaders.

"Really important, because sometimes I can get the words mixed up but they can hear it from the source, and tonight they know who's who what number to call and everything," said Willie Ross, Community Activist.

Organizers also handed out free clothes and books.

More community meetings are being planned for next year.
