Sylvester, GA (WALB) –  Dangerous meth labs remain a serious problem in South Georgia.

A neighborhood on Pinson Street in Sylvester was evacuated last week when meth blew up at a house at 104 Pinson Street.

The man at the home told officers his coffee pot exploded but an investigation revealed methamphetamine was being cooked.

Neighbor Jinny Boyd heard the explosion.  "The firemen came over and asked us to evacuate for the evening, that they had some sort of lab, and it was very unstable and this was Christmas eve."

Jackie Flichium was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Firefighters say the injuries did not appear to be life threatening.
