No sign of missing elderly woman

ALBANY, GA (WALB) – It was day three of the search for an elderly Lee County woman.

Law officers and volunteers from all over south Georgia were on the waters of Lake Chehaw Saturday.

They are looking for 77-year-old Fannie Corley of Lee county.

Her car was spotted on the Jefferson Street Bridge in Albany early Christmas Eve morning but she was no where near it.

Family members say they saw Corley Wednesday evening before they went to bed.

Because the car was parked on the bridge they suspect Corley jumped in the water but they aren't ruling out the possibility she's simply lost.

Corley has cancer and recently went through chemo-therapy treatments so she wears a scarf around her head.

Saturday afternoon rescue crews dragged the lake water and used sonar to locate a body.

"We've got several boats out, volunteers from the county, AFD, Lee County FD, the sheriff's office, everyone is out searching we had GSP helicopter in the air flying earlier," Captain Keith Houston, Lee County Sheriff's Office.

Crews ended their search at sundown and will continue Sunday morning.

If you see Fannie Corley call the Lee county sheriff's office or the Dougherty County Police Department.
