VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -  Valdosta has found its' next head football coach.

On Wednesday night the Valdosta Board of Education voted 6-2 in favor of  hiring Rance Gillespie as the man to take over head coaching duties. He replaces Rick Tomberlin who was fired in October after 4 seasons with the Wildcats.

Gillespe spent the last 3 years under Chris Hatcher at Georgia Southern and also led Peach County to State championships in 2005 and 2006. The Wildcats are hoping that Gillespe can lead one of the nation's most storied programs back to national prominence.
