ALBANY, GA (WALB) –  Rescue workers want you to stay out of the Flint River while the level is so high and the current is swift.

Wednesday rescue teams, police, and firefighters rushed to the Veterans Park Amphitheater after someone spotted a canoe lodged against a tree in the middle of the river. Rescue crews tried to dislodge the boat, but the current pulled it under.

There was no sign that anyone had fallen out of the boat. Firefighters now think the canoe floated downstream and had been stuck there for a while.
