MURRAY, Ky. (AP) - Murray State has introduced former Kentucky
quarterbacks coach Chris Hatcher as the Racers' new head football
coach.
Hatcher was most recently head coach at Georgia Southern. He was
fired last month after a 5-6 season and an 18-15 record in three
seasons.
Murray Athletics Director Allen Ward said he was excited to have
Hatcher at the helm and believes Hatcher is an "exceptional
leader."
Hatcher promised fans an exciting football team to watch and
said he looks forward to the opportunity to put the Racers on top
of the Ohio Valley Conference.
Hatcher coached under Hal Mumme at Kentucky, working with
All-America quarterback and eventual No. 1 NFL draft pick Tim
Couch.
Hatcher became head coach at his alma mater, Valdosta State, in
2000.
At Murray, Hatcher replaces Matt Griffin, who was fired this
season as the Racers finished 3-8.
