COLQUITT COUNTY, GA (WALB) – A Colquitt County man was found dead outside his house early Friday afternoon.  Just before 11 o'clock Friday, we learned that GBI Investigators have charged a man with his murder.

A friend of the family found 56-year-old Brett DeMott on the back porch of his house a little after noon Friday.  The house is on Highway 133 North, directly behind DeMott Peanut Company, which his brother owns.

GBI Investigators tell us they've arrested and charged 49-year-old Ronnie Bryant with murder. Investigators won't tell us how he died or if Bryant knew DeMott.

DeMott's body will be sent to the GBI crime lab in Atlanta.

The GBI and Colquitt County Sheriff's Office are working together in the investigation.
