ALBANY, GA (WALB) – Albany's Police Chief praises his employees who hit the streets and those who work behind the scenes. Chief John Proctor took time to thank the employees of the Albany Police department Friday for the work they do to keep the city safe.

In addition to thanking sworn officers, like members of the gang unit who helped to dismantle one of the most dangerous gangs in the city, he also praised support staff members.

"They're doing work that is not as glamorous, so to speak, so I think they need to be recognized and we show them our appreciation as well for being there for us."

City Manager Al Lott and Mayor Willie Adams also attended today's program thanking the employees of APD.
