(Macon-AP) -- Eddie Dawson scored 21 points and Mitchell-Baker beat Decatur 74 to 60 today for the Class AA boys state championship, the Eagles' sixth since 1990.
The Eagles (28-4) built a 57 to 32 lead with a big run early in the third quarter, then withstood a fourth-quarter rally from Decatur (26-4), which cut the lead to nine in the final two minutes.
Ditrase Carolina added 19 points for Mitchell-Baker, which appeared in the state finals for the sixth straight year, while Eddie Jenkins scored ten.
Chaz Wright scored 22 points for Decatur, which lost in the state championship game for the second straight year. Corey Moon had eleven and Claude Goines ten.
