ALBANY, GA (WALB) –An Albany Police Detective was taken to a hospital following a car crash Wednesday morning.

Detective Daryl Jones' police car was hit by another car right in front of the Albany Fire Department headquarters.

Just after 10 o'clock, he was driving his Ford sedan through the intersection of West Roosevelt and North Jackson.

Jessica Pressley of Thomaston pulled out and hit Jones on the driver's side door.

Albany PPresleydia Manager Phyllis Banks Whitley said "Right now it appears that she failed to stop for the stop sign, and side swiped his vehicle. Detective Jones is well. He is being transported to the hospital for further observation."

Jones was not seriously hurt, but Police Officers are required to be checked out at a hospital after most car wrecks.

Pressley was charged with failure to yield at a stop sign. She refused medical treatment.Presley©2009 WALB News. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed.  Feedback
