ALBANY, GA (WALB) –  In Sumter County, Sheriff Pete Smith says they were in contact with the National Weather Service every two hours Monday night.

They've got flooding issues in the same areas that they did in 1994.  There are problems in areas below Lake Collins and Station Lake, with water pouring over Murphy Mills Dam.

The county has run out of barricades to block flooded roads and asks that people only drive if they need to.

The only road closed in Sumter County right now is Brick Yard Road.

Emergency Crews had to help several people Monday night who got trapped in high waters and now several homes have been flooded.

The Red Cross was working with those families and most are staying with relatives.
