ALBANY, GA (WALB) –Georgia's lieutenant governor says Lee County is enjoying more growth than most of the state during the recession.

Casey Cagle says there hasn't been much residential or commercial development in Georgia lately but Lee County is bucking the trend.

He visited Lee County today to celebrate the creation of new jobs and new businesses moving to the area.

"The commitment from Publix is obviously going to mean a lot of local jobs but also we've got CVS that's committed as well and this site is a great site for commercial and residential growth," said Cagle.

Cagle says the development could create as many as 400 new jobs.
