Albany -- Five people were hurt this morning when a tractor trailer hit a school bus in East Albany.
3 students from Lincoln Fundamental Magnet School and 2 drivers on the bus were taken to the hospital. None was seriously injured.
The wreck happened around 7:15 on Mock Road. The bus had stopped at a railroad crossing and the truck hit it in the rear.
Dougherty County Transportation Director Willie Griffin said "He tried the best he could, he just caught the corner of the bus. We were lucky, but if they are inside the bus, they are pretty safe. The bus is a tough vehicle. As long as they are inside the bus, we can protect them."
The bus driver, Barbara Dudley, and all the children were checked at the hospital and released. The truck driver, Robert Collins, was not injured. He was charged with following too closely.
