ALBANY, GA (WALB) - December is HIV Awareness month. Several people were notified of their status Saturday after a local group screened people for free.

The Delta Sigma Theta Sorority tested people for HIV at the Delta House in Downtown Albany. Men and women of all ages and ethnivities showed up for the screening.  One representative says it's important, even if people think they are HIV negative, to get tested.

It's important to know what out status is so that we can have some different things done that need to be done," said Delta Sigma Theta Judith Hatch

Anyone concerned with their HIV status can call the Health Department in Albany at 229-430-6200
