CUTHBERT, GA (WALB) -One man is dead and his brother hospitalized after police say their own uncle shot them Saturday.
It happened around noon in Cuthbert. Cuthbert Police say Howard Daniels shot and killed his 20-year-old nephew Kentrell Jenkins. Daniels is now charged with Murder and Aggravated assault and is being held in the Randolph County Jail.
It happened at the corner of Land Alley and East Street. Police say the uncle shot Jenkins with what they believe is a 9mm hand gun once in the stomach and once on the left side of his chest near his armpit. He died on the scene.
The uncle shot his other nephew, 22-year-old brother James baker twice. Emergency crews rushed him a hospital in Columbus.
Cuthbert Police believe an argument took place in Stewart County where the uncle is from. That's when he came over to Jenkins' home at 44 East Street in Cuthbert.
Jenkins worked at Fred's Store in Cuthbert. Store manager Claire Smith said he was a joy to work with.
"He impacted everybody's life and he was always fun love and happy," Smith said. "He was a great guy to be around. I was devastated at first. I didn't want to believe he was gone and we will all truly miss him."
Cuthbert Police say they have no clear motive for the murder.
