LEESBURG, GA (WALB) - Wilcox County won't be the only team in South Georgia with a state championship on its' mind this weekend.
The Lee County All Stars are representing the Lee County recreational department and they've made it all the way to the semifinals of the first ever GRPA state tournament. The 11 and 12 year olds will play in Cartersville this weekend and two wins would bring a state championship to Lee County.
"This is probably the best group of kids I've ever coached. They're great and they're easy to coach" said head coach Bubba Synder.
"It's just cool to spend time with your friends and play a sport you love" said Austin Sheltra.
"As far as we've come I've never won a state championship before and this would be very exciting" said Dextric Greene.
"Mostly because we're all friends at school and we know each other so I guess we have better team work than the other teams we've faced" said Zach Cordoba.
"It would just be an incredible experience, it would stick with me my whole life" said Austin Davis.
The Lee County All Stars take on Calhoun Saturday in the semifinals. Kick off is at 3:00 in Cartersville. The Championship game is slated for 2:00 on Sunday.
