News release from Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital
In conjunction with The Compassionate Friends Worldwide Candle Lighting, Albany Community Hospice is sponsoring a memorial service at 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 13, at Fish Camp Retreat Center, 2908 Gillionville Rd.
"Lights of Hope" unites family and friends around the globe in lighting candles for one hour to honor and remember children who have died at any age from any cause. As candles are lit, a virtual wave of light is created to commemorate and honor children.
""There is a fear that the memories will be forgotten, and that our children will be forgotten," said Nina Ledford who lost her daughter last year at the age of 20. "It helps tremendously to know there are other parents out there going through the same grief."
The event will include a short devotion and candle lighting.
