ALBANY, GA (WALB) –The officers of bankrupt Peanut Corporation of America filed to collect nearly one million dollars from an insurance policy to pay their legal bills.

They racked up the bills after a nationwide salmonella outbreak traced to the company's plants in Georgia and Texas.

That outbreak was linked to at least nine deaths and 700 illnesses.

Company President Stewart Parnell is asking for $951,000 from a corporate insurance policy.

Three former managers at the Blakely plant and two former board members also want money to pay legal bills.
