A concerned citizen is stepping up to help the children who have been devastated by the tornado in Oklahoma.More >>
Thomasville, GA (WALB) – Two teenagers were rushed to the hospital after an accident following the Thomasville High school basketball game Tuesday night.
Police say 16-year-old students Taquana Wilson and Chrystal Williams were sitting on the back of basketball player Mitchell Christie's car in the parking lot behind the gym.
When Christie accelerated, the girls fell off and hit the pavement and suffered serious head injuries.
"From what we've been told by witnesses who were there they don't think he realized the girls were actually on the back of his vehicle. So it was an accident on his part," said Lt. Eric Hampton of the Thomasville Police Department.
The girls were sent to Archbold Memorial Hospital. They were in the intensive care unit but were moved to private rooms Wednesday.
They're expected to be okay, though they likely will remain in the hospital for several days. No charges will be filed.
