ALBANY, GA (WALB) –Volunteers serve an important role in society.

Tuesday, hundreds of them gathered for the annual Retired Senior Volunteer Luncheon.

And it was an extra special occasion, because longtime director Anne Bragg is retiring.

Bragg has held been director of volunteers for more than 30 years.

And at age 80, she says even though she's retiring as director, she still plans to volunteer.

"Our budget was cut drastically so it was either put my salary back in the budget and keep this program going so we decided it was time for me to retire," said Anne Bragg.

A total of 655 volunteers serve 45 different agencies in Albany.
