THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) –The governor announced more than $8 million in OneGeorgia Awards on Monday and much of the money is coming to South Georgia.

In Thomasville, Monday afternoon, Governor Sonny Perdue announced a $350,000 grant to help expand the Senior Life Insurance Company in Thomasville, a $7.9 million project.

Cordele gets $500,000 loan to help with road improvements. Arlington gets $500,000 loan to help with the expansion of Damascus Fertilizer Company.

Grady County gets $500,000 grant to expand an industrial park and Randolph County gets a $400,000 dollar loan to help AG Daniels Company manufacture cattle feed from cotton gin waste.

Governor Perdue says OneGeorgia creates many jobs.

"The score card just on these today are 186 news jobs, 706 retained jobs, 892 jobs total," said Gov. Sonny Perdue, (R) Georgia.

The OneGeorgia Authority money comes from the state's tobacco settlement of $1.6 billion.
