ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A family received an unpleasant surprise while they decorated their home with Christmas lights. Alfredo Lopez and his family say three men dressed in black tried to rob them at their home on 109 Adams Street.

He says they beat his leg with a metal bar and also injured his hand which is wrapped in bandages. Their neighbor Juan Lucas heard the commotion around 7:00 Saturday night.

He came over to run off the robbers. That's when the three men took off and fired several bullets including one at his home. The bullet went through the Lucas family's door and through the wall.

"We weren't doing anything," Lucas said. "We were in the house and they robbed my neighbor. Something is not right but we will keep an eye on it."

Lopez says the robbers didn't get away with much, only a few dollars he had in his pocket. Albany Police are searching for suspects.  Anyone with information can all crime stoppers at 436-TIPS.
