March 3, 2003

Albany -- A fire halted production at the Procter and Gamble paper plant in Albany Monday morning. The fire broke out in the plants Building Number 27 storage room about 3 AM.

It contained 2 ton rolls of paper products called parent rolls. Three units of the Albany Fire Department aided the P and G fire brigade in putting out the fire.

The building didn't sustain any structural damage, but the paper products were damaged. Production was halted during the fire, but has resumed.

The cause of the fire has not been determined.
