ARLINGTON ,  GA (WALB) – A big turnout for a big Mayor's runoff election in Arlington.

Last month there was a tie. Mayor Jerome Brackins and opponent Martin King both got 256 votes.

By 12:30 more than 400 people had cast ballots. That's more than half the registered voters. People continued to file in to cast their vote as the day went on.

Election officials say people really understand the importance of just one vote.

"I guess people have gone out and talked to a lot of people and let them know how important it really is to come on out and vote," said Alice Wims, Arlington Poll Manager.

Voters we spoke with think the race is going to be close again. We'll keep you updated on election results on our website walb.com And of course on WALB News 10 at 11.
