ALBANY, GA (WALB) –  The Dougherty County Police Chief wants to keep a store owner from getting an alcohol license.

Sheriff's deputies raided the Citgo gas station in April and removed gambling machines. Now Nita Bharat Patel wants an alcohol license for a vacant spot next to it.

Co-owner, Bharat Patel, is currently being prosecuted for the gambling machines. Dougherty County Police Chief Don Cheek says he doesn't think an alcohol license should be issued.

The County commission will vote next week.
