Improved Knights looking to rematch with George Walton

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Deerfield-Windsor Knights were of course very happy to reach the GISA AAA state championship game for a second straight year.

The Knights were even happier to hear who their opponent would be.

Deerfield-Windsor will host George Walton for the state championship game.

A game that could be called the Irony Bowl since the two teams opened the season against each other back on August 21st.

George Walton dominated that game and the Knights are looking forward to showing the Bulldogs Friday that a lot has changed with the Deerfield-Windsor football team in the last three months.

Allen Lowe said. "This group has really come together well. We have responded defensively about as good as I could have ever hoped for this year with this group. Offensively, it just took a while to mature."

Junior linebacker Rhett Cooper said. "Just like FPD they beat us by three points and we were ready to play them. George Walton beat us 16-6. We just have got to get back at them and get our revenge again and get a ring this Friday."

The GISA AAA state championship game starts at 7:30 p.m. Friday night at Deerfield-Windsor's Webb Memorial Stadium.
