ALBANY, GA (WALB) –Tonight a big thank you to all of you, our viewers who helped make the WALB Food Drive a big success.
Monday morning WALB delivered four pallets of food to the Salvation Army, almost three thousand pounds of food items donated by viewers during our food drive over the last week.
Everything from canned meats and vegetables, to pasta and rice, to waters, all desperately needed by many with the Thanksgiving Holiday's approaching.
The Salvation Army is giving away close to $32,000 worth of food in their shelter each week.Salvation Army Captain Douglas McClure said "We put out a lot of food and need a lot of support. We're very thankful for WALB and the food drive they do. Not just during the season, they do it other times. We're very appreciative they always come through."
The food you so generously donated will help put on the Salvation Army's annual Thanksgiving Dinner Wednesday night at 6 O-clock.
Because the need is so great, WALB Television has already planned another five day food drive in December.
