ALBANY, GA (WALB) – Church leaders and first responders work together to protect young people from violence, drugs, and alcohol.

Friday night about 60-young people are spending the night at Central Baptist Church as part of a purity conference.

Some of them saw graphic pictures that illustrate bad choices others have made.

The Dougherty County Coroner EMS workers and Lee County Sheriff's officers talked to them about youth problems such as gangs, suicide, and texting while driving.

"It's a lot of evolvement with the officials that see crime and may bad decisions students are making we have the coroner, Ms. Emma Quimbley who will speak to the kids, and she's tired of zipping up body bags." Daniel VanCleave, Central Baptist Associate Pastor.

This is the third year of the purity conference.

On Friday the group will tour the Dougherty County Jail and even spend time inside a cell.
