ALBANY, GA (WALB) – Dougherty County Police give to help feed the hungry this Thanksgiving.
The department donated 20 complete Thanksgiving meals to Neighbors in Need Friday.
This is the sixth year in a row officers and staff at DCP raised money to buy the meals, and then bought and delivered the food. Neighbors in Need says the help is badly needed.
Neighbors in Need Director Sister Veronica Weygand said "It has really hit people. and we are having many people come to us for the first time for help."
Dougherty County Police Lataria Candidate said "St. Clare's Neighbors in Need year round give to the less fortunate. Whether it's food or clothing. And so we just try to do this during the holiday season, when things are tight for people. To do our part."
The Neighbors in Need director says the donations are desperately needed. Dougherty County Police make sure that 20 families will have a great Thanksgiving meal.
