ATHENS GA (WALB) - A tough season for the University of Georgia football team got tougher with news that mascot UGA VII died unexpectedly Thursday in Savannah.

The owner of Georgia's beloved mascots Frank "Sonny Seiler" says UGA VII named "Loran's Best" died from heart related issues at the age of four.

Seiler says the family had no warning.

UGA VII took over for his father last season.

Seiler says Loran's Best was not as mischievous as his father but knew his role when he put his shirt on.

A new UGA will not be selected until next year so the Georgia football team will finish out their season without college football's most popular mascot on the sidelines.

A black wreath will be placed on UGA VII's doghouse at Sanford Stadium this Saturday.
