Home invader gets life in prison

ALBANY, GA (WALB) – A Dougherty County jury took about four hours to convict 35-year-old Kelvin Sloan on all counts except one for his involvement in a May, 2009 home invasion on Regina Road.

He was charged with 19 felony counts including armed robbery and aggravated assault. He was not convicted of sexual battery.

Sloan was sentenced to life with out parole plus 20 years Wednesday evening about 8:00.

Police arrested Sloan after a string of home invasions in the city and Dougherty County. He was charged along with Erick Bowen and Tia McIver for a home invasion on Mitchell Avenue in Albany.

 Dougherty County Police then brought forward charges against himBoth crimes took place just days a part, each with the same MO. The victims were bound and tied up with duct tape and then pistol whipped while the robbers stole electronics from the homes.
