Lady Rams ready for mission impossible

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - One of the rewards for winning the SIAC volleyball championship for the Albany State Lady Rams is a trip to the NCAA Division II regionals.

The Lady Rams are not still chasing that first regional win after eight unsuccessful attempts.

They are also chasing their first win in a game.

Getting that regional win is not easy for the Lady Rams.

They are once again seeded 8th in the eight team regional and play the top seed and regional host in the first round.

Once again the regional host is 6th ranked Tampa.

The Spartans routed Albany State in last year's first round match but the Lady Rams are optimistic about their chances this year.

Senior middle hitter Bonnie Salary said. "This year our think our team is amazing and has progressed so much more than last year. So, I think we have a good chance even though we are going against the number one team. I think we can put up a pretty good fight."

Senior libero Carolina Ribeiro said. "Our strategy is going to be play as a team not as an individual. Play together and play happy and don't worry about the results. Just enjoy the game and try to get our best from it."

The Lady Rams play Tampa Thursday night at 7:30 p.m..

The other six teams in the regional are West Florida, Lynn, St. Leo, North Alabama, Eckerd and Nova Southeastern.
