ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The early signing period in November allows high school seniors the chance to make their college decision so they can enjoy their final year.

Westover High's Onochie Ochie is ready to have fun on the court.

Ochie signing to play at Southeastern Louisiana University.

The Lions are coached by former Valdosta State basketball coach Jim Yarbrough.

Westover coach Dallis Smith says Ochie averaged 14 points and 7 rebounds a game when the Patriots finished second in the state last season.

Blazer basketball fans know Jim Yarbrough is a defensive coach and Ochie says so is Westover's Dallis Smith.

Onochie Ochie said."A lot of running and we do that here at Westover. We are defensive oriented. That is something used to and something I want to do again in college."

Ochie had offers from other schools including South Carolina State and Alabama State.

Westover opens the basketball season against Albany High on Tuesday.
