BAINBRIDGE, GA (WALB) -Bainbridge basketball star Alexis Burke is one of the best players in Georgia but next year she'll be taking her game far away from the peach state.
Burke signed a scholarship to play for the University of Illinois on Wednesday. She was also considering several other division one offers from Oklahoma, Rutgers, Florida and Kentucky. The defending player of the year from region 1 AAAA says choosing Illinois was an easy decision after her second visit to the campus in Champaign.
"I felt comfortable when I got on campus. I actually went on campus twice. The second time I felt comfortable with the team, coach Law and that made my decision easy" said Burke.
Burke averaged 18.6 points per game last year and was a first team all state selection.
