ALBANY, GA (WALB) –  Albany High School students Tuesday learned about five different wars from the veterans who served in them.

Veterans from World War II, Vietnam, the Korean War, The Gulf War, and the War on Terrorism showed students maps and explained their experiences. The Social Studies Department helped set up the exhibits that included everything from ammunition to the gear soldiers carried with them. Sergeant Ronnie Ricks told student how each soldier in his platoon helped carry ammunition for machine guns in Vietnam.

"They would always bring the machine gunner to the front in a fire fight and then we'd pass up ammunition as he got low, everybody would just pass their belts up and that would keep him going and that was kind of your life line, you could lay down a lot of fire power with it," said Sgt. Ronnie Ricks, a Vietnam Veteran.

Ricks said students showed a lot of interest in what Veterans had to say and asked a lot of good questions about their experiences.
