VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) –Moody Air Force base is always keeping a close watch on the weather.

Every year, they do update contingency plans that describe in detail evacuation procedures for base personnel, where to put all their aircraft, and how they would help community if assistance is needed.

"Moody's always prepared to accept all the various air force bases we have up along the Atlantic and gulf coast. We all have similar plans these hurrivac plans," said Lt. Colonel Eric Grace, Moody Air Force Base.

To help with forecasting, the base has several weather sensors. This type of sensor can be deployed with the airman to places like Iraq and Afghanistan...in the event a weather center is not nearby.
