News release from Turner Co. High School
The Turner County High School JROTC Department will host its Annual Veteran’s Day Program on November 11, 2009 at 10:00am in the Turner County Civic Center.
The guest speaker will be Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Michael Geoghagan, a Master Army Aviator, Director 21St Century Community Learning Centers and County Commissioner, Turner County. The Department considers the annual program a patriotic duty and honor.
It is a Service Learning Project for the cadet that requires active participation in structured teamwork to develop, coordinate, and implement the Program. The Veterans Day Program enhances the objectives of JROTC, student self development, and general public appreciation for past and present contributions of America’s veterans.
This year’s program will again be most rewarding as the JROTC Department provides special features by the cadets, music from the high school band, and performance by the high school chorus.
Immediately following the Program, Veterans and Special Guests are invited to the conference room for Hors d’oeuvres/refreshments. Veterans are invited to attend a brief memorial ceremony at the Turner County Courthouse at 1200am.
