VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -There will be no trip to the playoffs for Valdosta State this year and the coaches are wasting no time in preparing for 2010.

Valdosta State wrapped their season with a big 70-6 win over Edward Waters to finish with a winning record for a tenth straight year. Missing the postseason for just the second time in ten years is not sitting well with head coach David Dean or his players.

The coach wants his players to remember this feeling as motivation for next year.

The coach also says he and his staff will evaluate everything from recruiting to conditioning to practice schedules to see if anything needs to be changed.

Coach Dean doesn't believe any major repairs are needed but it never hurts to review your performance.

"I think we did but we have got to look at it. Let's answer some questions. We are not in a panic state around here. We know that we have got good players. We have recruited good players. We have got good guys in here. We have got good coaches. We have got good help around here at this institution. It is just a matter of us getting back on the winning track" said Dean.

The big challenge for the Blazers will be filling the holes left behind from a strong senior class.

"The big thing for us right now is that we have just got to replace a lot of really good seniors. We have got to fill those holes and then we have got to do a good job recruiting this year to continue bringing in good football players. So, we can get back on that winning track and be in the playoff hunt every year" said Dean.

The last time Valdosta State missed the Division two playoffs was in 2006.The Blazers won the national championship the next year.
