MCLB Albany, GA (WALB) - As many as 300 people will likely soon loose their jobs at the Albany Marine Base.
Sixty seven base contract workers were told Friday afternoon that they no longer have jobs.
And we're told as many as 240 more positions could be cut by base contractor, AECOM in the weeks to come.
The reason the jobs are being cut, not enough work. Not as many combat vehicles were returned here from Iraq for repairs.
"Based on known requirements today it's approximately 250-300 total employees that we don't have work for that's looking at our work requirements from now until December so we will continue to evaluate that every week and let additional go if needed," said Col. Terence W. Reid, USMC Commander
An announcement on more cuts could come next week.
