50 Marines stationed all around the world are at the Marine Corps Logistics Base in Albany this week.
They are trying out for the Marines Rugby team that will compete in the Armed Forces Rugby tournament in Fort Benning next week.
Lt. John Jacobs is the coach of the Marine team and has to close this list down to 25 for the tournament.
Jacobs says rugby has been very popular with all members of the United States Armed Forces for years.
Lt. John Jacobs said. "It is probably in my opinion the closest things that simulates combat in terms of the dynamic nature of the game and how you have to be thinking on your feet and also respond. ultimately it is working as a team. It is the brotherhood and camaraderie that the game generates that lasts you a lifetime."
The Marines have not won the Armed Forces Rugby tournament since 1987.
This year's tournament begins Monday at Fort Benning.
