Valdosta-- A South Georgia man crashes his truck into a canal, and remarkably escapes injury.

Forty-three-year-old James R. Patterson Jr. of Valdosta lost control of his truck Thursday afternoon and ran off the road, striking a light pole, and landing in the creek on the corner of Baytree Road and Oak Street.

"We were traveling south here on Oak Street, and the truck came over into our lane, and we ran off the road to keep from being hit,” said Ricky Johnston. “He went off in the creek bed there."

A crane had to pull Patterson's truck out of the canal. The crash is still under investigation.
