Construction begins for bridge replacement in Miller County

Georgia Department of Transportation news release

MILLER COUNTY, GA - The Georgia Department of Transportation is beginning construction on the replacement of one bridge on S. R. 91 over Dry Creek. Funding is provided through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA), and was awarded to Southern Concrete Construction Company for $1,956,969.84.

This federal stimulus project includes construction of a bridge and approaches on S. R. 91 over Dry Creek and is expected to be completed by winter 2010.

A temporary bridge will be built parallel to the existing bridge. This temporary bridge should be completed by the end of January 2010. Traffic will be temporarily shifted to allow for the demolition and construction of the permanent bridge and approaches.

Motorists are advised to slow down and use extra caution in the construction work zone.
