Albany State ready for former offensive coordinator

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Fountain City Classic between Albany State and Fort Valley State has been a much anticipated game since Albany State offensive coordinator Donald Pittman became the Wildcats head coach back in December.

The Rams will get to face their former assistant coach and their biggest rival Saturday in Columbus.

One reason why the Wildcats hired coach Pittman is the fact they have lost seven straight to the Golden Rams.

The two teams were in Columbus Tuesday to talk about Saturday's big game but coach Pittman was absent due to a recent death in his family.

Rams coach Mike White was there and knows what to expect Saturday.

Mike White said. "They are an explosive team. They are the top offense in the conference. We are going to have hold their receivers down. We are going to have to do a good job of moving that football."

Fort Valley State assistant coach Vernon Dean "Today kind of opened up a can for me because I really didn't know what to expect but now I know."

Game time is at 2:00 p.m. at Memorial Stadium in Columbus on Saturday.
