News release from the Food Bank of Southwest Georgia
(Tallahassee, FL) November, 2009-The SUBWAY® restaurants in the Tallahassee, FL area which includes Decatur and Grady counties are all doing their part to support the local community. For the entire month of November, participating SUBWAY® restaurants will be a donation center for America's Second Harvest.
SUBWAY® restaurants and the Food Bank of Southwest Georgia are all working together this Holiday season to bring cheer to those families who are facing tough times.
"We are very proud to help our community," says Mike Hunter, SUBWAY® Board Chair of Tallahassee Market, "It's a way for us to say ‘thank you' and give something back to the community that supports our business. The economy is presenting tough challenges to us all and, as a result, the food banks are bare - so we felt it was imperative that we help out in a big way."
To encourage food donations, participating SUBWAY® restaurants will be giving away a FREE regular EVERY DAY VALUETM 6" sub with any nutritional, non-perishable food donation on Sunday, November 15th from noon-4pm. No purchase is required.
"We want to make it easy for our customers to give to those that are less fortunate and reward them for doing so," says Mike Hunter.
The Food Bank of Southwest Georgia was founded in 1984 and incorporated as
a 501(c)3 charitable, non-profit organization in 1995. In September 2005, they received national certification by and membership in the largest hunger-relief organization in the United States, America's Second Harvest - The Nation's Food Bank Network (A2H). Through A2H, they are approved to serve 20 counties in Southwest Georgia.
