ATHENS, GA (WALB) - Georgia baseball player Chance Veazey will be transferred to the Shepherd Center in Atlanta later this week.
The Shepherd Center specializes in patients who have had spinal injuries.
The freshman from Tifton had back surgery on Friday at St. Mary's Hospital in Athens.
Veazey suffered a spinal injury when a car turned in front of his motorized scooter last Wednesday.
The University of Georgia student body is rallying around Chance and Bulldogs football coach Mark Richt visited with him at the hospital and said hello during Saturday's halftime interview at the Florida game.
The family has set up a fund at Athens First Bank and Trust to help offset medical expenses.
You can send a get well message to Chance at www.caringbridge.org/visit/chanceveazey.
