ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A Monroe High School teacher is considering suing the city of Albany because police mistook him for a burglar.

Alvin Young's attorney, Jim Finkelstein, submitted a settlement demand to the city asking for $100,000 to cover Young's medical and legal expenses.

Young was standing in his yard on Radium Springs Road in July when a burglar alarm went off at Harvey's across the street. He claims police tackled and handcuffed before asking him any questions.

Young met with Chief John Proctor, but police won't talk to us about the incident.

Finkelstein gave the city 30 days to respond before he files a lawsuit.
