ALBANY,  GA (WALB) - A break in a year-old murder case. Two women are arrested for the murder of a former Albany State University athlete.

The Dawson women are charged in the shooting death of 25-year old Ricardo McPherson in September 2008.

He was shot in his Gillionville Road apartment while he was on the phone. Police also issued a lookout for two Dawson men also wanted on murder charges.

September 15th, 2008 25-year-old Ricardo McPherson's life was cut short when he was gunned down inside his Gillionville Road apartment.

"I don't think Ricky deserved this. I guess they say things happen for a reason, and we will never find out until this case is solved." That was Ricardo McPherson's emotional interview only days after his son was murdered.

Now, 13 months later, the family has some closure.

"After a year long investigation we were fortunate enough to have a citizen contact us confidentially that brought forth some good information and details about the incident," said Investigator Charlie Roberts.

That crucial tip came in a few days ago and led police to Terrell county where they arrested two women,

28 year old Chyquandria Williams for murder and 32-year-old Theojuana McCullar for party to the crime of murder.

"We are now actively looking for two other subjects involved," said Roberts.

Police say 29-year-old Willie Caldwell and 26-year-old Jatarious Bronner were also involved that night. They both face burglary, aggravated assault, armed robbery, and murder charges. Caldwell also faces charges of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and possession of a firearm of a convicted felon.

"The case is still under investigation and we are still accepting phone calls with any further information," said Roberts.

Investigators didn't say much regarding the relationship between McPherson and his suspected killers, but did tell us the motive was robbery.

McPherson was on the phone when they broke into his house through the back door, robbed him, and shot him once in the chest.

If you have any information on Caldwell or Bronner's whereabouts, call CRIMESTOPPERS at 436-TIPS.

Ricardo McPherson played basketball at Albany State and graduated in 2006. Police say when they spoke with his parents in Augusta this morning, they were relieved to hear the news and finally have a little closure.
