BERRIEN COUNTY,  GA (WALB) - A man protecting his pecans opened fire on a thief this morning.

24-year old Eric Seay showed up at South Georgia Medical center this morning with gunshot wounds to both arms.

Investigators say Seay and 19-year-old Christopher Tillberg had stolen 500 pounds of Pecans from Shiloh Farms in Berrien county Wednesday and when they went back for more this morning, the owner was waiting for them.

Police say Buck Paulk and his worker Juan Pablo were waiting. When the men showed up, they opened fire. Seay was hit in both arms.

Investigators say it's unlikely the owner will be charged.
