ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Southwest Georgians are showing off our education system and making important connections with leaders from China.

Thursday Darton College hosted a delegation of about 20 people from Huangzhou, China.

The group saw academic and athletic buildings on campus and even visited classes to see what Darton students are learning.

But for the Chinese delegation, the trip is about more than just sightseeing.

"China, believe it or not, actually is now starting a community college system and it's something that's very unusual for them. And they're getting a very nice sneek peak at what could be a collaboration between the schools," said Dr. Uli Kirchdorfer, Darton College Dean of Global Education.

Dr. Kirchdorfer says that collaboration between Darton and Chinese colleges could involve sending professors and students to China, and hosting Chinese professors and students here.

The delegation also visited Albany Tech and Andrew College.
