ALBANY, GA (WALB) -  The main post office in Albany was shut down Thursday afternoon when a retiring employee pulled a gun on his boss.

"We are locked down," said a Postal Service employee. "We had an emergency and we are locked down."

Just after 12:30, 52-year-old Martin Stratis, who's about to retire, confronted postmaster Ron Bradley in the back parking lot of the post office.

Bradley was in his car and told police Stratis pulled a gun on him.

Bradley sped away, and Stratis left.  Police arrested him at his house on Dawson Road not long after it happened.

The Post Office was reopened to customers just before two.

"His intentions were to come here and discuss some employment issues, and he ended up threatening the post master with a gun and then driving off," said Phyllis Banks-Whitley of APD.

There will also likely be an investigation by federal officials, since the Post Office is a federal facility.
